The study examines the theme of divine light and communion within the context of the glory of God as depicted in the hymns of St. Symeon the New Theologian. It investigates how the motif of light functions as an uncreated energy that reveals, transforms, and facilitates the creature’s entry into Trinitarian communion (theosis). Beginning with an analysis of the hymn texts—particularly Hymns 2–12, 14–16, 26–34, and 44–49—the research combines a philological and hermeneutical approach with a clear perspective rooted in mystical experience. The methodology incorporates both synchronic and diachronic analysis, lexical examination of key terms (φῶς, δόξα, μετουσίωσις, etc.), and liturgical-pastoral contextualization. The findings demonstrate that in St. Symeon, light is not merely a symbolic metaphor, but an active, Trinitarian energy conveyed sacramentally through the Eucharist and realized via ascetic practices and monastic life. The Eucharist inaugurates and renews communion; asceticism shapes the receptive capacity; and mystical language—including metaphors, antinomies, and questions—serves as a hermeneutical strategy. The study highlights a theandric anthropology, wherein the body is called to deification while maintaining its distinct identity, and where apatheia results from the cooperation of effort and grace. In the historical dialogue with Palamism, a continuity is identified: Symeon offers experiential data that Palamas later formalized doctrinally through the essence–energies distinction; however, the anachronistic application of subsequent terminology should be avoided. The implications are both theological and pastoral, affirming experience as an epistemic source, emphasizing the necessity of pastoral criteria for discernment, and underscoring the importance of balancing poetic mystical language with conceptual rigor in contemporary energy theology. The conclusion underlines the doctrinal and practical value of Symeon’s legacy for theology and the life of the Church.
